Arushima lore (kinda goes with my previous post)

So, here's how it goes.

Arushima was born with a fraternal twin sister named Natsuki. At age five, he somehow got cancer (I haven't decided why yet), and he seemed to recover quickly. He made a new friend, Mozetsu, while he was in the hospital, but his new friend unfortunately died when Mozetsu was 14 and Arushima was 15. At 16, he met his boyfriend, Tokamaru, and they eventually got married when Tokamaru turned 21 and Arushima turned 20. The ceremony and reception were successful, but the after-party went down in flames after he got knocked out with a slap of a cloth being thrown at him, which was soaked in chloroform. He was knocked out and taken to the hospital (again), which hurt his entire family and his friends. He recovered well from that incident, and now nobody has ever been able to hurt him again.

Why do you want to imagine characters that go through a bunch of trauma?

Idk, I just think it gives them a compelling backstory to show that they are fighters

Why give them a backstory instead of making that the story itself? You can use that to guide a lot of character development but right now it just feels like you are loading them full of trauma for empathy points
