Getting a sustained note?

I'm sure there must be a way, but for the life of me I can't figure it out.

I want to get a sustained note, like you would if holding the key down, but it doesn't seem to matter how long I stretch the note or change the BPM, I can only ever get a single note, like I've tapped the key.

How do I get a note (with the 'smooth synth' for instance) that sounds like I'm holding the key down?

Thanks in advance.

for most instruments, you don't. smooth synth you can place multiple notes in a row and it sounds close enough, for e-guitar sustain will last a short time, and for all the 8-bit instrumetns sustain works. nothing else

If you were a bloon, wouldn't you rather be popped then wither away into an undignified husk? Since bloons can't talk, I'll guess we never know.

Ah! I'd been trying notes that were too long, thinking I had to make them long to sustain them.

In actual fact if you set the note length to 1/16 and put them in a row it's even closer to a sustained note than at the default size.

Thanks for the quick response.
