Reply to this topic if you also have opinions on the current state of OS.

808 drumkit without the use of proper volume command mixing is just awful somewhat.

the "hidden instruments" will not load properly when you attempt to import MIDI on FLS 11. A major example of this is the OS 8-bit percussion, which could be one of the reasons why it's not an unhidden instrument.

hidden instruments are basically the meta now (if used properly). And this upsets me somewhat.

the electric drum kit is manageable, only useful as background percussion to the main 808 percussion mix.

Trap, Electric, synth-beat, lofi, atmospheric-wave, and aesthetic-wave are the current original genre metas, as making anything else will not gain sustainable attention, if not any at all. And I absolutely despise this. (Based on genre creation of the most popular members of OS, not entirely accurate).

yeah... :/ i also think that we should be able to put reverb/delay on not all the notes, but the notes we want to have this effects, not every single one of them :/

reverb is specifically coded to this site so modifications like that are improbable/impossible in this current time.

If you want to go higher and more far on your stretch with quality then use offline DAWs. (with VSTs and soundfonts)

808 is almost always garbage, even beyond OS. Sometimes it can be used in a creative way and can be awesome, but on its own, it's usually a sign of laziness in real music (even if it's a "hidden instrument" in os).

Most of the hidden instrument are garbage, and you don't need them to make good songs.

The world update, despite all the cool instruments and sh**, kinda ruined the charm of OS imo, because BAcK In mY dAy, when you only had a few instruments and the effects, and the old e guitar, you were forced to be creative and to use ingenious methods to emulate whatever sounds you wanted. Now, it's kinda cheap and complicated at the same time.

Sometimes you just can't explain your composition style, and it just comes to you.

I'm not a good composer (Sir Guy seems to agree with this).

Piano only songs aren't always "noob songs." I mean ffs take a look at Lucent's Aeipathy project.

Never said you were bad, just said I don't like your genre, sorry for the confusion.

Agree about the 808, though, feels flat and lifeless

Also, XJCH, without the Edrums and the Mbox, so many songs would be screwed

Importing MIDI that you make on an offline DAW is fine.

Importing MIDI that you downloaded from another source, and it not being your creation, is NOT fine.

I never and will never like online sequencer EDM, or general EDM in that regard.

I feel like time signature mixing is under appreciated. People may just think it's hard to change pace, which I understand greatly. I for one don't want to mix in 3/3 or 18/16 anytime soon.

Repeating a theme and giving it new sounds every loop is not original music.

Giving a theme enough time to loop the overall theme is my ideal way to make something.

-Decide which BPM is ideal for the tone of what you're thinking.
-Make the beginning of a song an arpeggio with good bass and mid range notes and chords that make sense.
-Make sure the beginning of a song doesn't overstay it's welcome.
-use a proper buildup theme to suspend the next loop, have it longer than the beginning but don't make the entire song loop the beginning only twice (example: beginning - 3 minutes of random buildup tone - loop beginning with more tension as the ending) A song should at least loop the beginning once in awhile, or loop one of the buildup parts to make it more interesting. I'll dive into this into more detail another time.

Swapping to an offline DAW should never be a permanent solution unless you are legitimately being paid to make music/are a musician by career choice. You either choose music as a hobby or dive into it as a career, and this is a tough decision to make. You can challenge and limit yourself to the tools of OS to make something and motivate yourself by hearing other creations from other users.
