Surprisingly it is pretty difficult to make your songs sound generic. This is especially true for EDM stuff. I challenge you to make a really generic sounding song in a particular genre!

Generic doesn't mean bad sounding, this isn't a challenge to make bad sounding music, its to make songs that don't sound unique at all

If you want to sound generic, you need your music to become popular. Than you need several folks to start composing new music, inspired by your music. Then your music will sound generic in retrospective.

ON THE ROAD TO 10,000 PLAYS!  Angel   If we hit 10,000 plays, I will add an additional special song on top of S.S.R.S hitting 700 plays for that goal.  Wink

Honestly, I say it's WAY too easy to be generic. I mean, too many pop songs use the exact same formula, for example:
1. E minor, C major, G major, D major
2. C major, G major, A minor, F major
3. G# major, E major, B major, F# major
You get the idea, eeh-uuh-eeee-aaaah!

I'm sick of hearing that obvious formula...
