The toolbar contains many functions crucial to making music with the sequencer. Some of these functions may also be accessed using keybinds.
Current functionally is documented below, from left to right:
Play button[1]
The play button plays or pauses the current sequence. It functions essentially the same as the play button seen when viewing a sequence, however, it does not resume the sequence at the previously stopped position when played. Instead, it either plays from from the last clicked measure on the timeline, or the beginning of the sequence if no measure has been clicked.
Tempo[2]
The tempo controls the speed of the sequence. This is set in beats per minute, with a default value of 110. Higher values mean more beats are counted per minute, and lead to faster sequences.
Title[3]
The title input field sets the name of the sequence. This does not change how the sequence behaves, but controls what a user has to search to find your sequence. Consider using a descriptive title, making it clear if your sequence is a remix or a cover of another song or existing sequence.
Draw mode button[4]
The draw mode button sets the current sequencer mode to Draw. In draw mode, notes can be placed freely, but it is difficult to select multiple notes at once.
Select mode button[5]
The select mode button sets the current sequencer mode to Select. In select mode, notes cannot be placed; they can only be selected for adjustment or deletion. Selection rectangles can be drawn to select several notes at once with ease.
Erase mode button[6]
The erase mode button sets the current sequencer mode to Erase. In erase mode, clicking a note will delete it from the sequence. Holding left click and dragging allows you to remove notes as your pointer sweeps over them.
The instrument select menu allows you to select what instrument notes will sound like when placed. Clicking the instrument name opens a dropdown, presenting dozens of instrument options, and clicking an instrument from the list will select it. Selecting a new instrument only affects new notes, unless notes are currently selected; if the menu is changed while the selection contains notes, all notes in the selection will be changed to the new instrument. Additionally, keybinds are available to quickly switch between instruments. The colored circles displayed in the dropdown may also show an underlined character, and pressing the key for that character while in the sequencer will switch the current instrument to the instrument set to that keybind. Keybinds can be changed by pressing Shift+[number] while hovering over an instrument in the dropdown menu, where [number] is any valid number key.
Highlight this one[8]
The Highlight this one button selects all notes or markers belonging to an instrument. Left-clicking the button selects all notes and markers of the current instrument, while right-clicking it allows you to select either all notes or all markers.
Instrument options[9]
The instrument options button opens an options menu that allows you to customize parameters of all instruments. For more information, see Instrument Options.
Cut[10]
The cut button copies all selected notes and markers to the clipboard and removes them from the sequence.
Copy[11]
The copy button copies all selected notes and markers to the clipboard, but does not remove them from the sequence.
Paste[12]
The paste button pastes the contents of the clipboard to the sequencer, maintaining the original positions of notes and markers. If you copied notes or markers from another sequence, use Ctrl+V instead.
Select all[13]
The select all button selects all notes and markers in the sequence.
Zoom out[14]
The zoom out button zooms out of the sequencer, making notes appear smaller. This has the same effect of pressing the control key and scrolling up, but is centered on the sequence.
Zoom in[15]
The zoom in button zooms into the sequencer, making notes appear larger. This has the same effect of pressing the control key and scrolling down, but is centered on the sequence.
Save[16]
The save button uploads the sequence to the website, listing it for others to listen to or for future editing. If you are not logged into an account, you will be unable to edit and re-save the sequence after reloading the page. The arrow next to the cloud button allows you to save a copy of the sequence, which saves a new sequence instead trying to save to the same sequence. It also gives options to save the sequence as different formats, such as an offline sequence file, a .MP3 or .WAV for offline listening, or as a .MID for using in a different sequencer or DAW (digital audio workstation).
Help[17]
The help button opens a pane that provides a general overview of site features, and covers the basics of making music in the sequencer. Pressing F1 over a button or slider also may open a help page specific to that function.
Full screen[18]
The full screen button puts the sequencer in full-screen mode, hiding the website header and footer to provide a larger area to work with.
