Hi Jacob!
I've been noticing that you have recently been adding more features to the site, which is awesome! All of the new features added in the past couple of months have been really useful and long-awaited.

A more recent feature that you added is the Save/Export Audio .ogg file. This feature should prove itself to be useful, and its something that I have been hoping for for quite a while.

However, I have tried using this feature myself and I was having a bit of trouble opening the file on my computer. I have Audacity installed (which is the only program that I have that can open .ogg files), but even Audacity does not seem to know the exact type of file that it is. (Windows Media Player also yields an error for me trying to open them. I am using Windows 7).

Are these .ogg files Raw data files? And if so, how are they encoded? If someone could give me some more information about how to open these files it would be greatly appreciated.

Ogg is just another audio format. I think it can be compressed or raw. Most decent media players support it.

Jacob did this one first because it's automatically supported by the browser, so it's super easy to export. MP3 export will require more work. Once I'm done with some other stuff I'll try to add MP3 export, unless Jacob wants to do it first.

.wav should work on every device since it is uncompressed

Will the export work on sequences that are very large and break sound on crappy computers?

Also .ogg is compressed, lossy, not raw

No, exporting works by basically routing the rendered sound to an ogg file, rather than to the speakers. That's why it has to play though the whole song at regular speed. This means that if your computer has trouble playing a sequence, it will have just as much trouble saving it to an ogg file.

Is there a way to slow down the render process so it won't break the sound?

Theoretically possible, but it would be incredibly difficult. Like, we'd need to rewrite the audio system and never ever use time based callbacks in the audio pipeline (and those are used all over the place).

Hi all,
I have the same problem, the ogg files has been downloaded but it can't be opened. I click on "export audio", wait until the window to save pops up and save it. But it doesn't work.
Is there a way I can fix that?
