I would say yes, but since you don't want it, no.

HEY what about ME, would I make a good mod?

I already sent this to Liam earlier. Just retyping it from the lost post.

my overall rating would be at a B. i'm actually rather surprised that you have a bit of music-making experience, so that already puts you at an advantage

i'd place my biggest compliment on the percussion. percussion is easier for me to rank because i can objectively tell if the execution fits with the song or not.

it's very easy for me to be subjective about composition—and i don't want to rank low just because i'm not amazed at your chord choices. however one can look for good percussion regardless of it being complicated or not. when ranking percussion, i look for how well it blends with the song as well as variety.

knowing these two criteria, i'd rate your percussion at an A+ because you seem familiar with ekit/808/cultural percussion and you do use them very cleanly. with regular acoustic percussion (such as in equilibreak) i really like the kinds of drum fills you use per section as well as ride alteration.

i also like the percussion in pentatropic because it's a mix of 808 and higher samples of ekit. i'm putting extra points here because these are fun to play with, and even i have trouble trying to diversify which percussion samples i use.

my suggestion for percussion is to use 2013 kit as a complement to the ekit. ekit doesn't do well in the snare department and that 2013 REALLY brings them out more. it's like adding salt—salt makes things great and flavorful but don't overdo it

as for the melodies and general note choices, i think they're pretty sound and there's nothing jarring (albeit the voicings are shallow to personal taste). i think your music is really relaxing to listen to, but i can't analyze anything on a deep level. while it's good, that's basically the only opinion i have

there were some weird sound design choices from time-to-time, but the most noticeable one was using reduced high EQ on the ekit of equilibreak. since percussion is important, not having enough texture on the hats just made a great song much blurrier than it needed to be. i don't know, you might be into muffled hats but i think that was my greatest criticism on the song

i like your music, but it's not something i'd replay often. it's isn't as grandiose as other people—but it's really straight to the point which i like. i just really like equilibreak ok

I think you have really good statements concerning the health of the chat, and that you are actually more helpful than some of the mods who are currently on the team. I wouldn't argue against your characteristics because I genuinely think older people have a better hold on staying neutral in pressuring situations.

However, keep in mind that moderating the OS community takes a lot of mental persistence. The hardest situation you'll face as a moderator is deciding on people who fall under the grey areas. A lot of people will argue that it is unfair to mute someone (because they don't break any rules), but sometimes that person can be the center cause of general chat toxicity. You will have to decide what's right and be responsible for the sort of aftermath.

Someone mentioned this earlier, but a perk to being mod is that you are given social power. You can influence others to prevent hostility on the chat as you want to. I say this fully knowing that I don't cleanly handle situations, but once again I'm not in disagreement with those who really want to make the chat a better place.

I'm hesitant on inviting new moderators on board, so generally I have a neutral opinion on "Lopyt for mod" until further notice.
What about me, plus a music rank please

No thanks

Be honest, I would like your judgement. Smile

Again today I'll go soaring through the sky!
My enemies, I'll dish 'em up in a stir-fry!
Gracious goddess of light watches from up above,
At dinnertime I always show the cook some love!

I think I would rate you at an A.

Your music seems to take from multiple OS users (I'd say Vlad/Syntax/MTN/gax, cork if I had to look really close). I can see how those guys inspire your music but I still think you have enough personal flavor that I might be able to tell that it's your music.

You sometimes do impressions of me (which I think it's a running joke on OS at this point) and I feel that they're getting better LOL??
For "lucent's #1 hater" you sure do listen to my sequences a lot and unironically incorporate a lot of my musical decisions. But we're here to talk about you, not me.

Your melody/chords are pretty fair. Again, I'm not going to rank low because I'm not amazed at the way you compose. There are some sequences that I do like in terms of the chordal atmosphere and it's rather distinct per sequence. Your compositional palette seems to be pretty tight-knit and it's come a long way since you first joined the site.

Percussion is pretty above-average but it's pretty standard too. There's not much I can say on it aside that it fits your general sequencing profile.

I think you're more interested on the hardcore-style FX department on OS and you're doing a good job discovering things that you like to use in your sequences. I'd even say that you're actually more hardworking than I am trying to find new things.

The most relevant advice I can give to you right now is that your sequences would benefit more from panning. As far as I can tell, you're not doing weird things to EQ—but even if the instruments are clear I still feel that they clash somewhat in the sound space. I checked your mixing and saw that you don't use panning so I just wanted to put that out there.

I think my favorite sequence of yours might be In Time and that one Untitled in your featureds. In Time had some really pleasant chording and some very cool FX going on, but I just liked Untilted because I knew it was supposed to be an impression of me :p

In regards to the chat, I used to be a little hurt from having a stubborn hater but I stopped minding it at some point. I think that our relationship improved after having dealt with random kids on this site. In general, I like sharing interesting sequences with you, and every now and then I like listening to some of the interesting things you show me. You're not particularly sweet, but I can tell that a lot of the things you say come from a place of honesty. At the very least, you're not the kind of obnoxious person who unfunnily attacks other people on the site so I really respect that.

It's been a while since I saw you on the site. Your stuff wouldn't have had a harsh ranking back then, but I feel your sequences belong at a C rank in today's terms.

Every sequence I've clicked so far seems to be unremarkable for me to critique but none of it's actually bad—just needs more fleshing out.

Melodies are okay to listen to but they just feel really stagnant to me. Personally I think the percussion is doing a disservice to the melodies because it's supposed to provide pacing to the sequence. When the percussion is equally as clunky to the melody, it's easy for the melody itself to feel dead. When practicing percussion, I think it's easier to work with more upbeat music before slowing down and getting more detail-oriented.

Based on your composition style, I recommend taking notes from Syntax or Tib or even Mystic since I would think you would end up similar to them if you used the site more.
